A Research Assistant position is available immediately in the Laboratory of Molecular Neurobiology & Biophysics.

Responsibilities include designing oligonucleotides for sequencing and mutagenesis, cloning natural and synthetic genes into vectors, transfection ,and testing for expression in a variety of biological systems including prokaryotic, yeast, mammalian and baculovirus. Will also be responsible for the maintenance of plasmid stocks, inventory, ordering of molecular biology reagents, and organizing sequence records.
Bachelor`s degree required; Master`s degree preferred. Must be proficient in techniques of molecular biology, including PCR, cloning, site-directed mutagenesis and DNA sequence analysis. Good note-keeping and communication skills, and a working knowledge of other basic laboratory techniques (protein and DNA gel electrophoresis, tissue culture, microbiology, solution calculations, etc.) required. Must have at least two years of experience.
